how to straighten a bent bike wheel?
My son ran a bike over curb and bent the rear wheel on his 26 x 2 bike. Not bent a lot, but enough to hit the brake pads each revolution. Can this be fixed? Can it be fixed at home?
It's done by tightening the spokes with a spoke wrench. A little butterfly looking thing that fits over the end of the spoke at the rim. You'll get the hang of it , slowly loosen and tighten alternate spokes until it gets really screwed up and then take it to the bike shop.
Look down to Gary D, read his site, keep the children away while you work as you don't want them to hear all the bad language you will utter, finally get a 5 pound tappet wrench and smash the daylights out of the stupid rim and go buy another one, aaahhhh *&%$&(*)
