I saw alot of bike has a horn (side bar handle) in handle bar.What is the purpose of it?
The way you describe it, I think you mean bar ends. The purpose of these extensions is to provide leverage for climbing. The rider grips the bar ends so that the palms face each other rather than facing the rider's knees. This hand position allows the rider to effectively pull the handlebars backward rather than upward. That way,the front wheel retains traction while the rider gets more leverage to apply torque to the rear wheel. A tip in installing bar ends: avoid positioning them level to the ground.Angle them a bit so that they are pointing upwards (about 10 degrees).This will allow you to pull on them backward than upward.
Bar ends are usually fitted on cross-country mountainbikes.They offer a lot of alternative hand positions esp during long rides. If you ride aggressive trails and do not expect hard climbs, you don't need to have bar ends.
