kids bikes for life
Every one of us try to remember acquiring our first bike, getting up Christmas early morning tormenting our mum and dad to get out of bed so we are able to see what Santa claus has left behind. The anticipations of finding the pile of gifts piled underneath the tree waiting for the unavoidable carnage as gift paper is frantically torn and thrown all over the ground.
I don't remember my first kids bike without doubt it was some little, vibrantly shaded, single speed device, probably a Raleigh, with all the expected stabilizers included.
I do nevertheless recall the stabilizers coming down for the very first time. The inescapable wobble, the appearance of fear and trust on my parents entire face as they observed the boy take flights don the road for the first time.
You won't ever overlook your first bicycle - in my circumstance a Raleigh Chopper - a famous bike still identified these days and still produced by Raleigh. The pleasure of bombing all-around along with your friends in the summer breaks, this was way ahead of the innovation of on-line computer games to disturb you.
Then came the BMX Bike - it was 84 and all I wished for Christmas would be a Mongoose - it was thee BMX to have at the time, however all I possessed at the time would be a bicycle my father made for me. Fortunately (or not) the bicycle was taken and to my joy we made our way to the hometown bike shop. The Mongoose was a touch outside of the cost range but I became the coolest kid on the town with my brand-new Raleigh Extra Burner in Red and Bright white. Soon to be added was stunt pegs front and back and unlimited attempts at ollies, whip tales and jumps. Thankfully BMX's are in possession of the brake cables hidden in the frame - I clearly remember many a tangle as I tried to whip the back end of my bike a full 360 degrees whilst leaping over the frame and then land on my chin as every thing got trapped up in the cables.
BMX led to racing bicycles (seemingly called road bikes now) the thrill of air was supplanted with speed and the wonder of a whole 12 gears! It appears to be old-fashioned now but in 1989 that was one thing special. In reality the road bike my mum and dad purchased me for Christmas that year was the main player in my winning the community triathlon - primarily due to the fact everybody else was attempting to do it on a BMX!
Then a new breed of bicycle surfaced - the mountain bike - not many mountains about but hey I still wanted one - a lot more gears obtainable tough design though by this phase my parents had furnished with in fact gift wrapping them - mountain biking was the foreseeable future!
A number of years have surpassed now and the bike marketplace has exploded, engineering has enhanced no end - bikes are the new cars! Presently there are full suspension , hard tails, cross over's, hybrids, electric cycles that actually work and prices from £30 to £10000+
A brand new bike for Xmas is a lifetime of recollections, years of lengthy summer getaways with friends and escapades with bikes - I think I'll go and dust off of my own in the shed.
