Which Giant Bike should i go with?
Im a avid rider and work at a bike shop part time. I am looking at getting into mountain bike racing Im currently a road racer but I have been experimenting with mountain biking and its awesome. so im stuck with the choice that every biker has problems with, What bike? the Trance X2 or the Anthem X1? i live in michigan and i will probably travel down to the Appalachians to ride this summer but i want a race bike as well. they are both right around the same price but the anthem has less suspension travel than the trance but on the other hand the anthem is designed to be a racing machine.

Owning both of these I can say if you are going to race get the Anthem. The Trance, while an excellent bike, is great for all day epics and trail riding and a fairly good race bike IF the trails are extremely rough. The Anthem X's with 4" of travel however is the weapon of choice, faster lighter and can be used any where, I've even done some mild downhill with it just to see how well it can do, just avoid 3' +drop offs.
